Meet the Guiding Force Behind Our Mission
David Richard, Founder and President of Global Mobility, has more than 20 years of experience in serving the global community of persons with disabilities. He has overseen distribution of wheelchairs and ambulatory aid equipment, with individualized service to recipients and their families, in 76 countries. He has also championed the rights of the disability community in developing countries.
David began his global mission as a volunteer working with his family to provide wheelchairs to children in Guatemala, then as the founder of Wheels for Humanity, a non-profit organization he established out of his Studio City garage in 1996. The organization grew to serve over 100,000 children and adults across the globe. David personally directed hundreds of international seating clinics to custom fit wheelchairs. He led trainings and educational outreach with international partners and governments, and participated in numerous conferences involving wheelchair seating, design, disability rights and advocacy, and international policy.
David has forged lasting friendships with partners in all corners of the globe. He is a successful speaker, advocate, and wheelchair design and engineering consultant as well as an accomplished photographer. His passion and vision for Global Mobility fuels the organization as it addresses the needs of the world's population of people with disabilities.
